Tower Christian School Trumpeteer Never Ending Story

Episode 2 - Winter 2008

Continued By Sarah Kruse

"Luke, please come with me to my office." I was still wondering what Mr. Won, our principal, wanted me for. As we walked to his office I saw out of the corner of my eye that one of the hallways had been splattered, not like a sprayed or spotted but almost completely covered, with…pink paint?

Ok, my curiosity had now been piqued! My head was racing with questions. Who did it? Why did he or she do it? And why the color pink? (Especially that last one…why not blue or red?)

We arrived at his office. I entered and took a seat across from his desk.

It was interesting to see his office. I had never really been in it until now. Never really got into a whole lot of trouble. He had a picture of his daughter with her soccer uniform on, one of his wife, a small jar of Jolly Ranchers, and one of those things that when you pick up one of the medal balls on one side and drop it the opposite one swings out. And they keep going back and forth back and forth... you get the point.

He took his seat, leaned forward, and expressed a concerned look on his face. "Luke I have been told by your teacher, Ms. Carter, that you have the highest grade in your class and have a mind for mysteries."

"I guess what you say is true," It was known that I was smart (I got teased about that last year by some bullies, and I took care of that. But that’s a different story.) And everyone, meaning the whole school plus the staff, knows I can always be found with a mystery book in my hand (The Hardy Boys to be exact). I continued, "But what does this have to do with me?"

Mr. Won looked me right in the eyes, "What I'm getting at is that I want you to find out what's going on around here. Why the fire alarm went off, why is the hallway pink, and what happened to one of the class rooms."

"One of the classrooms?" This was new information to me.

"Yes, the rest of the teachers and staff are completely baffled!" There was a brief pause, and then he asked me the one question that would send me off on an adventure, "Will you please help us to find out what's going on here at Carver Elementary?" I looked at him then the Hardy book I had in my lap. I looked back up at Mr. Won and smiled, "It would be my pleasure."
