Tower Christian School Trumpeteer Never Ending Story

Episode 13 - April 2009

Continued by Samuel A. Montgomery

At that point there was whirring noise and a bright flash of light. Nick and I flattened ourselves against a wall and couldn’t believe...

...Couldn’t believe who we saw in front of our eyes.
“Anton?” I said loudly covering my eyes with my hands, but I could still see the light peering through my fingers. “Point your flashlight somewhere el-!” Before I could finish, he shushed me.
“I’ve got to get you out of here!” he whispered, still pointing his flashlight into our eyes (the flashlight was the ‘bright flash of light’).
“If you turn off your flashlight first,” Nick said covering her eyes with her hands. Anton immediately turned it off, and Nick and I slowly dropped our hands at our sides.
“What’s going on, Anton?” I whispered to him, and then I noticed the whirring noise was remained still.
“Did Nick tell you?” Anton asked me in a whisper.
“Did Nick tell me what?” I said, my heart pounding faster and harder than it has ever pounded before.
“About the Oceanic Fligh-” He started, but I interrupted and finished his sentence.
“-Flight 518!” I said then turned to Nick and frowned. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Tell you what?” Nick asked looking at me. “Oh, that. Well, because...” She was cut short by the garage door opening, rapidly fast, revealing a man in a black suit with modern rifle pointing at us (somewhat like SWAT, but it wasn’t them). The three of us backed up into the garage wall, terrified, more on Anton’s side though.
“Smile and wave boys, smile and wave,” I said, terrified, and then I noticed what the whirring noises were coming from. Helicopters. Helicopters were flying above us and over the city with searchlights. And then, Nick just had to break my thoughts.
“I’m not a boy...” Nick whispered to me.
“Oh whatever,” I whispered back, “just do as I told.” Nick hesitated, and gave a forced smile, and then, she waved. Anton and I followed her example (more of mine, but it didn’t really matter in this situation).
“This is so embarrassing!” Nick whispered to me scowling. “Everyone is staring at us!”
“I think they would be staring at us anyways,” whispered Anton to Nick. I smiled.
“Quiet!” The man said. “No talking amongst yourselves!”
“Okay. Sheesh.” Nick whispered. She pushed it too far. Way too far.
The man slowly walked up to Nick and stopped until his shadow swallowed her. Nick’s face was full of fear. And then, something happened that I never thought would happen. The man lowered his gun.
“You three get out of here, it’s not safe.” He whispered to us. His voice sounded awfully familiar. “I don’t want you to get forced into this situation as Anton and I did.” Then he turned to me. “You too.” Suddenly, it hit me. It was Mr. Collins!
“What’s going o-” I started, but he cut me off.
“Not right now,” he said, “you have to get out of here.” He turned to Nick and Anton. “You know the tunnels. Use it to get to the museum.” My eyes were wide open.
“The museum-” I started but Mr. Collins cut me off again.
“Not right now,” he said. “Anton and Nick will tell you everything on the way. Be careful.”
“We will, dad,” Anton said and then he and Nick headed towards the door. I followed. Before we could go out, Mr. Collins told us one more thing.
“And keep an eye out for the green and blue-eyed man.”

To me, that could only mean one thing...
