But, little did we know...

   That a dump truck had just carried off the time machine (due to thinking it was a pile of trash). When we arrived at where the time machine used to be, Madison looked at me funny.
   “Are you sure this is the right place?” She raised one eyebrow (I hate it when she does that).
   “Yeah, it was right here,” I assured her.
   “Are you sure we’re not lost?”
   “Yes!!”
   “I hate you,” she muttered.
   “Strongly dislike,” I corrected, as I searched the ground for clues on the missing time machine. She gave me the “whatever” sign. As I searched the ground, the smell of garbage was not helping me think. Wait – AH HA!! I figured it out! It was in a garbage truck that, ironically, at that very minute, drove past us on its way to the dump.
   “Madison, we’ve got to follow that truck!!”
   “Huh?”
   “I’ll explain later, come on!!”
   With that I grabbed a skateboard from under a nearby skater’s feet (mid flip too!) and well - followed that truck. I sped down the sidewalk at break neck speed (if only mom could see me now!), tongue hanging out of my mouth. I followed the truck for what seemed like miles, and when it finally stopped I discarded the skateboard and jumped into the back of the truck. I looked up and saw the Time Machine, opened the door, and clambered in. Then I noticed Madison was sitting in the Time Machine.
   My jaw dropped below sea level. “How did you get here before me?” I gasped.
   “I jumped in a taxi.”
   “That doesn’t explain much.”
   “Turns out it had an ejection seat.”
   “Taxis don’t have ejection seats!!!”
   “This one apparently did.” She pointed to a seat that was connected to a parachute.
   “Whatever. Can we leave now?” I asked.
   “Sure.”
   I clambered over to the shiny button. When I pushed it, we went flying forward in time. Amazingly, back to the cruise. As we stepped off we found Nicole standing outside.
   “Wh-wh-why is there a time machine?” Nicole stammered.
   “I’ll explain later,” I told her as we walked back to our room, not knowing what lay ahead of us...
